James is the founder of JPM and the publisher of The Oldie, our witty, irreverent and much-loved newsstand title. Under his direction, the circulation has increased from 20,506 to 45,118 in five years. He is the author of Growing Up In Restaurants: The Story Of Eating Out In Britain From 55BC To Nowadays. Tom Parker Bowles, writing for the Mail on Sunday, called it, “Easily the best history of the restaurant I’ve read.” James masterminded the Soho Literary Festival and currently organises 11 international reader trips and 15 literary lunches every year. He is also the driving force behind The Oldie Of The Year Awards, the annual star-studded highlight of the JPM calendar.
James started his career working for branding agencies before moving to publishing in early 2000. He was an integral part of the team that set up JPM in 2001 and has worked with numerous clients in the trade, membership, public and third sectors, and is an expert at developing their ideas into smart content that engages audiences, raises awareness and boosts revenues. James' background in design helps give us a real edge with our communications.
Lizzie is our senior editor, working across the entire JPM portfolio. She’s responsible for making sure our clients’ publications are packed with engaging, accurate content. She worked in consumer publishing for 14 years, writing for and editing print magazines, websites and huge social media channels, including the health, fitness and sport sectors.
Simon has worked in media publishing for over 15 years, and has designed customer communications for some big-name brands, including HMV, Sky, and BT. These days he applies the same considered design thought for charities and membership organisations. He oversees everything design-shaped that we do, and ensures that every single piece of content excels client expectations.
Marianne manages all aspects of client communications to the highest possible standards. Combining writing and editing skills with a flair for ideas generation, she makes sure communications are compelling, accurate and to schedule, and takes pride in building collaborative, long-lasting relationships with clients.
Katherine is responsible for all financial aspects of JPM, and co-ordinates all of our events and readers trips. With 20 years’ experience in banking, she keeps our books balanced, honours our contractual liabilities and collects all revenue, converting our brilliant content into a profitable business.
Christina is our super organised design and production manager. She ensures that everything we do is delivered to happy customers on time, every time. She has over 10 years’ experience in the creative industry, during which she has industriously designed everything from magazines to Batman mugs. And her creativity knows no bounds: when she’s not whipping mailing houses into shape, she creates beautiful linoprints.
Lee heads up JPM’s London-based ads sales team, working across our diverse portfolio to maximise revenues for clients. Having worked in media sales since the age of 17, Lee is an expert in finding the ideal commercial solution to suit clients’ needs.
Katrina designs across the JPM portfolio, including GDJ, StepForward, The Groundsman, Governing Matters and O&G. With a keen eye on trends in design and illustration, Katrina’s speed, accuracy and attention to detail ensures JPM’s communications look bold, fresh and modern.
Jack maximises revenue in print and on digital platforms for our clients. It’s his second stint with James Pembroke Media; he previously worked on The Oldie for three years and, before that, with publishing financial data for charities. Jack is also a qualified primary school teacher, which can be useful for keeping his colleagues in line.
Hoby sells across JPM’s titles, with particular responsibility for maximising revenue on Garden Design Journal. He’s previously worked in conference and exhibition sales and spent time in Abu Dhabi working in hospitality. Fun fact: double-jointed Hoby used to be a cheerleader. Give us a H… give us an O… etc…
