We’re hiring: Senior editor for customer publisher

We are looking for a skilled senior editor with experience gained in customer publishing as maternity cover in our Bath office. Primary responsibilities include sub-editing layouts and copy, overseeing our company’s daily publishing operations and client liaison across our portfolio. You will be reporting only to the managing director and will supervise clients while working with editors and other staff. Excellent sub-editing, writing and organisational skills are crucial.

You will work across our diverse and exciting range of titles, taking a project from conception through to print or digital delivery. You will be expected to oversee the editorial content of our titles, sub-edit and rewrite copy, and act as our key contact with clients – successfully managing their expectations to deliver magazines and digital solutions of the highest quality.

• Full-time position (9am-5.30pm), expected term of six to eight months, beginning mid November

Senior editor’s key responsibilities:

• Client liaison and project management across the JPM portfolio

• Planning and managing all daily operations

• Sub-editing and proofreading layouts to meet daily deadlines


Responsibilities

• Plan and manage all daily operations with key members of staff

• Coordinate editorial publications and client meetings

• Plan and approve assignments for writers and editors

• Control schedules and enforce deadlines (for writers, designers etc)

• Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessary

• Assist in evaluating finalised copy for compliance with policies, style and tone

• Resolve issues as they arise

• Attend client meetings on behalf of the company


Requirements

• Proven experience as editor or relevant role in customer publishing with a minimum five years’ experience

• Proven expertise in client liaison and account/project management

• Exceptional ability in copywriting, editing and sub-editing

• Sound knowledge and experience of Adobe InDesign, Microsoft software and CMS

• Proficiency in English

• Abilities in planning and coordinating people and operations

• Excellent organisational skills

• Outstanding communication and people skills

• Attention to detail
